On Wednesday, Sept. 30, the Homecoming Parade was canceled because of the risk of heavy storms. 171 Food Row posted an invitation the same day. The bar was open, Mona's Taqueria was serving, and the playground was there for kids. "Sometimes the best Homecoming plans are the ones you make on the fly!" the post said.
That rainout shows how fall works in Godley this year. The City of Godley hosts a few large Saturdays at the park on Allen Avenue. The weeks between them are filled by a privately run food-truck lot on Highway 171 that posts its plans almost daily. If you know both calendars, you know the whole season.
The season's anchor dates line up neatly.
| Date | Event | Where | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sat., Oct. 24 | Godley Fall Fest | Godley City Park, 104 E. Allen Ave. | 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. |
| Sat., Nov. 14 | 4th Annual Amateur Chili Cook-Off | 171 Food Row, 209 W Highway 171 | Setup 11 a.m., judging 5 p.m. |
| Sat., Dec. 5 | Holiday in the Park, Lighted Christmas Parade and tree lighting | Godley City Park, parade from City Hall | Noon to 6 p.m., parade at 6 p.m. |
Fall Fest to the cook-off is 21 days, and the cook-off to Holiday in the Park is another 21. The schedule alternates from a city event at the park, to a private event on the highway, and back to the park. Nobody appears to have planned the spacing. Still, it gives the season a steady three-week rhythm, with something filling the weeks in between.
The Fall Fest listing on the city calendar promises free kids' activities, music, hayrides, craft vendors and food trucks. It runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 104 E. Allen Ave. Registration questions go to the city at 682-459-5007 or to Chastidy Gloria by email.
Holiday in the Park, on Dec. 5, follows a tighter schedule. Kids' activities and a vendor market run from noon to 6 p.m., and Santa takes photos in front of the tree from 2 to 6 p.m. At 6 p.m. the park pauses for the Lighted Christmas Parade, which starts at City Hall and ends back at the park. The night closes with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Vendor applications and parade entries go to the same city contact, [email protected]. The city lists the parade itself as a 15-minute event, from 6 to 6:15 p.m.
Godley City Park can handle these crowds largely because of a rehabilitation announced in 2019. That project included a bigger playground, more picnic tables and benches, a basketball court, bathrooms, sidewalks, lighting and irrigation. The park pavilion can be reserved through the city. It has covered space, tables, a nearby playground, parking, restrooms, a kitchen and water. If you're looking for a splash pad or a walking path, those are at a different park. The Godley Chamber's 2025 visitors' guide puts the splash pad, basketball court, walking path and playground at the park at Hadley Farms. It identifies City Park as the community-event site with the rentable pavilion.
The park is quiet between those two Saturdays, but 171 Food Row stays busy. It bills itself as a food truck park with live music, a playground, a bar and a pet-friendly setting. In the eight days leading up to this post, its feed listed something nearly every day:
Each truck keeps its own hours. Mona's Taqueria showed up on more of those days than any other vendor. Porter's Burgers, Taj Cajun and The Tater Wagon came in for particular nights, so the menu on any given evening depends on that day's post. The lot's own posts list the address as both 209 W and 209 N Highway 171, and Cowboy's Cup lists 209 W Highway 171. They all mean the same lot.
The Nov. 14 cook-off falls exactly between the two park Saturdays. Without it, that stretch would have no big event. This will be Food Row's 4th Annual Amateur Chili Cook-Off. Entry is $25, setup starts at 11 a.m., judging begins at 5 p.m., and the winner takes the whole pot. To register, text 817-846-7515 or email [email protected].
The six hours between setup and judging matter. Because judging doesn't start until 5 p.m., the event runs into the evening, when the lot is usually busiest. Entrants who show up at 11 a.m. will be cooking through most of the afternoon.
The Godley Chamber of Commerce fills in the rest of October, mostly on weekdays. Two of its events fall on Thursdays, the same night of the week Food Row hosted karaoke on Oct. 1.
Buckhorn's ribbon cutting is on Highway 171 too, at 400 N., so the same road where Food Row operates is also getting new businesses. The Halloween mixer ends at 7 p.m., the same time karaoke started at Food Row on Oct. 1. If the lot keeps that Thursday schedule, you could go from Main Street to the highway without missing much of either.
Fall Fest opens at 9 a.m., so on Oct. 24 the morning matters as much as the afternoon. Main Street has two sit-down options a few doors from each other. Chisholms Restaurant is at 113 S Main St., and its listing showed current hours and an update dated Sept. 9, 2026. Carmen's Café is at 116 S Main St. and appears in the Godley Chamber's member directory. Brewberry Coffee & Fro-Yo, at 505 SH-171 Suite A, serves coffee and frozen yogurt on the highway side of town. Cowboy's Cup Espresso Bar runs as a drive-through and walk-up espresso bar from the Food Row lot.
The city hasn't said which food trucks will be at Fall Fest or at Holiday in the Park. Its listings only say there will be food trucks and food vendors. Truck names for the Food Row nights come from the lot's own daily posts, and new ones go up most days of the week.
Godley's fall calendar is split between a city park and a privately run lot, and that's the kind of local detail we build marketing around at VYBE with Eric. If you're a builder or seller near Godley and want buyers to see how a place like Highway 171 actually spends its Saturdays, schedule a consultation and we'll show you how we'd tell that story.
